This guide explains how to get there by Metro, CP urban trains, bus, from the airport and also by car.
1. Where is Pavilhão do Conhecimento?
Pavilhão do Conhecimento is on Alameda dos Oceanos, in the heart of Parque das Nações, a few minutes’ walk from Gare do Oriente. It sits next to the Lisbon Oceanarium, the Vasco da Gama shopping centre and the riverfront.
- Area: Parque das Nações, Lisbon
- Nearby landmarks: Lisbon Oceanarium, Centro Vasco da Gama, Gare do Oriente
2. Getting there by Metro
The Metro is usually the simplest way to reach Pavilhão do Conhecimento.
- Red Line of Lisbon Metro
- Recommended station: Oriente
From Oriente station, follow the signs to the Vasco da Gama shopping centre and then towards the riverfront / Oceanarium. Pavilhão do Conhecimento is about 7–10 minutes on foot, along a flat and accessible route.
ONDEBUS tip: you can also get off at Cabo Ruivo (Red Line) and walk along the riverside area, but Oriente is better signposted and closer to the main attractions.
3. Getting there by CP urban trains
Gare do Oriente is served by Lisbon’s urban railway network and is a good option if you are coming from outside the city centre.
- Sintra Line → get off at Oriente
- Azambuja Line → get off at Oriente
- North Line (regional / long-distance services) → some trains also stop at Oriente
Once at Oriente, just follow the same walking route as from the Metro: through or around the shopping centre towards the Oceanarium and Pavilhão do Conhecimento.
4. Buses and Carris Metropolitana
The Parque das Nações area is served by several Carris and Carris Metropolitana bus routes, with stops at Gare do Oriente, along Av. D. João II and near the Vasco da Gama shopping centre.
Because bus routes can change, always check the latest options on ONDEBUS or on the official operators’ websites before travelling.
5. From Lisbon Airport
Option 1 — Metro (recommended)
- Take the Red Line at Aeroporto station.

- Approximate journey time: 10–15 minutes without heavy traffic.
Tip: during rush hour, the Metro can be more predictable than travelling by car.
6. Arriving by car and parking
Driving is possible, but parking can be busy at weekends and during school holidays.
- Car parks at Gare do Oriente.
- Car parks at the Vasco da Gama shopping centre.
- Paid street parking along Av. D. João II and nearby streets in Parque das Nações.
ONDEBUS tip: if you are travelling with children, driving can be comfortable, but consider parking in an area with more spaces and using Metro for the last leg of your journey.
